The Derby Works

from $7,500.00

This table base is a powder-coated, low-pressure compressor rotor, commonly known as a booster spool. The booster spool was first popularized in early jet engines, like the Rolls-Royce Avon. Designed at the company’s headquarters in Derby, England in the 1950s, the Avon featured a two-spool design and became one of Rolls-Royce’s most important military turbojet engines, laying the foundation for modern jet propulsion.

Like a car’s turbocharger, the booster spool compresses incoming air before it enters the high-pressure compressor, optimizing combustion efficiency. This is especially critical during takeoff, when engines need to generate maximum thrust to get the aircraft airborne.

Now you can own a piece of history from actual components that have traveled the world. The Derby table will complement your office, business, home or hangar and become a point of discussion for all.

Every component used to make our tables and accessories may have small imperfections resulting from the thousands of miles and hours these components have experienced before becoming an addition to your space, making every piece we sell one of a kind.
